MBU Online Learning: Flexible Options for Busy Lives

Posted by Brittany Sansagraw on Jul 1, 2016 3:19:56 PM

Whether you’re moving up the ladder or moving to a new career, you probably don’t have time to sit in a traditional classroom to earn a college degree, especially at the graduate level. Chances are you’re balancing family, work, and other responsibilities that make traditional education formats impractical. So if you’re one of the millions of non-traditional students who want a high-quality, career-focused college education that fits your unique needs, online learning is the answer. But choosing the right online college or university can make the difference between a valuable investment and a waste of money.

Even before the internet made virtual classrooms accessible to anyone, anywhere, Missouri Baptist University (MBU) was already serving non-traditional students through regional learning centers, opening our first facility in 1996. Today we have more than 1500 students, primarily adult learners, who study either online or at one of MBU’s 10 regional centers across eastern Missouri and Illinois. Over the past 20 years, we’ve expanded our outreach to non-traditional students by building an infrastructure with unique features that distinguish MBU from other online universities:

Fully Accredited Programs

Choosing online learning means you get the same quality education as students who attend classes at one of our campus locations, but in a way that best suits you. MBU has accreditation, approvals and compliances that put us on an even playing field with other universities. You can check out all our accreditations here.

Top-Tier Faculty

Our faculty members have either masters or doctorate degrees; many hold high-level positions within the fields they teach. They understand that non-traditional students learn differently—they don’t just memorize information—they want to know that the courses they take will be applicable to their work. We integrate some of their class assignments into projects that you can apply to your area of interest or workplace.

Career-Based Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the current industry needs, and our faculty consists of industry leaders who provide valuable, real-world expertise. We update our academic instruction continually to reflect the latest proven concepts, methods and practices. Our graduates have a track record of successful and rewarding careers after graduation.

Maximum Credit Transfer

Those who are returning to college after a long absence often have difficulty getting transcripts, or are concerned that their credits won’t be transferred. We help these students transfer as many credits as possible, reducing the time and cost to complete their degree program.

Accelerated Learning

MBU’s undergraduate, online programs require only 120 credit hours to complete, compared to 128 for traditional programs. You can finish your degree faster and move ahead with your career—and your life!

No Set Login Schedule

When you login during the week for online classes is completely up to you. Courses are constructed so there are no required login times during the week. As long as you meet the deadlines specified by the professor, you can complete your assignment at any time of the day or night.

Personal Attention

MBU cultivates a welcoming culture of caring and support, from faculty to administrative staff. We want to bring out the best in each individual student. Our experienced faculty members are always available, via e-mail, Skype or a quick phone call. We take seriously our responsibility to help guide you through this busy and stressful time in your life.

Affordability

MBU tuition is among the lowest in the region, especially in the undergraduate programs. Our undergraduate online tuition is $390 per credit hour with no associated fees. What you see is what you get. In addition, financial aid opportunities are available.

Technology & Tools

MBU’s Distance Learning Center gives you the technology and tools needed to be successful in the virtual classroom. Learner-centered, accessible and convenient, our technology provides the same support services as in the traditional on-campus environment, as well as 24-hour access to course content, electronic media, and fellow students. Blogs, discussion boards and other tools allow you to upload and respond to content in real time.

MBU’s online programs put you within a mouse click of accomplishing your goals. No matter why you’re starting or rejoining the college environment, we can help you build a bright future. It’s your degree, your way. Shine On!
